The Life List is a 2025 romantic drama film based on Lori Nelson Spielman’s novel. The story follows Alex Rose (Sofia Carson), a young woman who embarks on a journey to complete a bucket list she created when she was 13. This mission is set by her mother, Elizabeth (Connie Britton), who passes away after a battle with cancer. Elizabeth’s will stipulates that Alex must complete the list by New Year’s to receive her inheritance.
As Alex tackles each item on the list—ranging from performing stand-up comedy to traveling to Vermont to meet her estranged biological father—she uncovers family secrets and navigates romantic relationships. Her journey involves three potential love interests: Finn, her initial boyfriend; Garrett, a coworker; and Brad (Kyle Allen), the family lawyer who becomes an unexpected romantic partner.
Through her experiences, Alex discovers personal growth, confronts her identity, and learns the value of true love. Ultimately, she completes her mother’s list and inherits the family home, finding love with Brad in the process.
