Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip is a 2025 American family road comedy film directed by Marvin Lemus and written by Matt Lopez. The movie follows a Mexican American family who embark on a chaotic road trip to Mexico, aiming to reconnect with their roots and each other. The family, led by Val (Eva Longoria), a travel journalist, and her husband Frank (Jesse Garcia), includes their children Alexander (Thom Nemer) and Mia (Paulina Chávez), along with their grandmother Lidia (Rose Portillo).
The trip quickly turns disastrous when Alexander discovers an ancient, supposedly cursed idol in their attic. Believing the idol is the source of their bad luck, the family decides to return it to its rightful place in Mexico. Along the way, they encounter a series of hilarious mishaps, from RV malfunctions to unexpected detours.
