Dark Nuns (Korean: 검은 수녀들) is a South Korean supernatural thriller film released on January 24, 2025. Directed by Kwon Hyeok-jae, the movie serves as a spin-off to the 2015 film The Priests 2: Dark Nuns. The story revolves around two nuns, Sister Yunia (Song Hye-kyo) and Sister Mikaela (Jeon Yeo-bin), who attempt to save a young boy, Hee-Joon (Moon Woo-jin), possessed by a powerful evil spirit.
When the Church’s designated priest fails to arrive in time, the nuns defy sacred orders and undertake a forbidden exorcism ritual themselves. Their efforts are supported by Priest Paul (Lee Jin-wook), a psychiatrist who believes in medical treatment, and Priest Andrew (Heo Jun-ho), who performs traditional exorcism rites. As they delve deeper into the boy’s possession, they uncover chilling secrets that test their faith and courage.
Blending supernatural horror with psychological tension, Dark Nuns explores themes of sacrifice, faith, and the battle between good and evil. The film has been praised for its haunting atmosphere, compelling performances, and thought-provoking narrative.
