Synopsis
Deva (2025) | Indian Movie Download
Deva (2025), directed by Rosshan Andrrews in his Hindi debut, is an action-packed thriller that remakes his 2013 Malayalam hit Mumbai Police with a Bollywood twist, starring Shahid Kapoor as Dev Ambre, a volatile cop with a knack for bending rules. The 156-minute saga kicks off with Dev, a Mumbai Police inspector known for his rowdy streak and fierce loyalty, tackling a high-profile murder case that spirals into a web of deceit. Kapoor’s electric performance—balancing aggression with vulnerability—anchors the film, especially in massy first-half sequences like a cigarette-lit standoff and a brutal takedown of goons. Pooja Hegde’s Diya, a crime journalist, and Pavail Gulati’s ACP Rohan D’Silva add layers, though Hegde’s role feels sidelined despite her charm.
The plot thickens post-interval as Dev, post-accident and amnesiac, reinvestigates his own case, uncovering he’s the killer in a twist that swaps the original’s bold homosexuality angle for a safer, less resonant betrayal arc. Amit Roy’s gritty Mumbai cinematography and Jakes Bejoy’s thumping score elevate the tension, but choppy editing and a sluggish second half drag the pace. At 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s divisive—X posts laud Kapoor’s “mind-blowing intensity” and the “unpredictable climax,” yet slam a “forgettable script” and “wasted potential.” Grossing ₹55.89 crore worldwide against a ₹70 crore budget, it flopped theatrically but found a Netflix pulse. It’s a flawed, flashy ride—Kapoor’s star turn shines, but the remake’s compromises dim its soul.
