Review
“Heart Eyes” (2025) is a gleefully twisted horror rom-com that swings big and mostly hits its mark. Directed by Josh Ruben and penned by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy, this Valentine’s Day slasher blends bloody kills with self-aware humor, feeling like “Scream” crashed a Nora Ephron set. Olivia Holt’s Ally is a sharp, heartbroken cynic who finds her match in Mason Gooding’s suave Jay—both deliver charm and comedic timing that make you root for them, even as the “Heart Eyes Killer” (with his creepy, glowing heart-eyed mask) racks up a body count.
The gore is inventive—think arrows, machetes, and a particularly wild drive-in massacre—and the pacing keeps you hooked, though the third act stumbles with a convoluted killer reveal that leans too hard into absurdity.
