Mickey 17 (2025) Download
Mickey 17 (2025), Bong Joon-ho’s first film since Parasite, is a zany sci-fi dark comedy that thrives on Robert Pattinson’s unhinged multiplicity. Adapted from Edward Ashton’s Mickey 7, it follows Mickey Barnes, an “expendable” colonist on the icy Niflheim, cloned after each death—17 times by the end. Pattinson plays every iteration with wild abandon, from timid pushover to feral nihilist, clashing with his own duplicate, Mickey 18, in a slapstick existential brawl.
Bong’s signature genre-blending shines: the satire skewers corporate exploitation, and the action—think creeper swarms and a naked Pattinson rampage—delivers absurd thrills. Naomi Ackie’s fiery Nasha and Steven Yeun’s sly Timo bolster the chaos, though Mark Ruffalo’s pompous Marshall feels underused. At 137 minutes, it’s a tad bloated, with subplots (creepers, coups) sprawling messily, and the social critique lacks Parasite’s bite. Yet, Darius Khondji’s stark visuals and a hopeful finale elevate it. Certified Fresh at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a messy, madcap triumph—imperfect but impossible to look away from.
