Synopsis
Set in the war-torn land of Ravka, Shadow and Bone follows Alina Starkov, an orphaned mapmaker who discovers she is a rare Sun Summoner capable of dispelling the Shadow Fold—a monstrous, impenetrable darkness dividing the nation.
Taken under the wing of General Kirigan, a powerful Shadow Summoner also known as the Darkling, Alina trains to harness her powers at the Little Palace. However, she learns Kirigan’s true identity as the Black Heretic, who created the Fold and plans to use her abilities for domination.
Parallel to Alina’s story, a group of criminals from Ketterdam—Kaz Brekker, Inej Ghafa, and Jesper Fahey—embark on a mission to kidnap her. Their paths intertwine as Alina escapes Kirigan’s grasp with the help of her childhood friend Mal.
The season culminates in a dramatic confrontation within the Fold, where Alina begins to embrace her power while Kirigan’s dark ambitions grow.
