Synopsis
The Room Next Door (2024), directed by Pedro Almodóvar, follows Ingrid (Julianne Moore), a successful author who reconnects with her estranged friend Martha (Tilda Swinton) after learning of her terminal cancer.
As they reminisce about their shared past as journalists and navigate their complex emotions, Martha reveals her desire to end her life on her own terms. Ingrid, despite her fear of death, agrees to support Martha during this poignant journey.
Their friendship deepens in a rented cabin, where they confront mortality and the burdens of their shared history, ultimately testing the limits of love and loyalty.
