Synopsis
The Sandman follows Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), also known as Dream, one of the Endless, who governs the realm of dreams. The season begins with his capture by an occultist, Roderick Burgess, in the early 20th century. After decades of imprisonment, Dream escapes and embarks on a quest to reclaim his lost artifacts—his helm, ruby, and pouch of sand—to restore his fractured kingdom, the Dreaming. Along the way, he encounters various figures, including Lucifer Morningstar (Gwendoline Christie) in Hell and his compassionate sister Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste).
The second half shifts focus to Rose Walker, a young woman revealed to be a Dream Vortex capable of unraveling the Dreaming.
As Morpheus grapples with her dangerous powers and the schemes of his sibling Desire, he also confronts rogue entities like the Corinthian, a nightmare turned serial killer. The bonus Episode 11 adapts two standalone stories from Neil Gaiman’s comics: “Dream of a Thousand Cats” and “Calliope,” adding depth to the show’s mythology.
